The original PM Magazine aired in Tampa on WTOG Channel 44 from 1980 to 1984, hosted by Barbara Callahan and Dave Saint. A syndicated program originating in San Francisco, the show featured a mix of nationally produced segments repackaged for local markets. At its peak, PM Magazine was broadcast on over 100 stations nationwide. However, in 1983, a new station manager at WTOG scaled back promotion of the show. Coupled with the rising popularity of Entertainment Tonight, viewer interest declined, eventually leading to its cancellation.
The series returned briefly in 1987 on WTSP Channel 10, with hosts Julie Brannon and John O’Connor, but the revival lasted only about a year.
