The Episcopal House of Prayer was dedicated in 1923 on the corner of Michigan (name changed to Columbus Drive in 1933) and Central Avenues. The striking style of architecture mimicked construction practiced in the British Isles early in Christianity in Britain. The structure, designed to hold more than 400 people, was built with a main worship hall and a parish house.
The structure is just as striking today and continues in the Episcopal faith as St. James House of Prayer Episcopal Church.
